We’ve been seeing a lot of Michelle Pfeiffer lately. She was just at Paris Fashion Week with Saint Laurent and she’s been wearing a lot of Saint Laurent on her current press tour for two series: The Madison and Margo’s Got Money Troubles.

The Madison is another Taylor Sheridan show, co-starring Kurt Russell. This is notable to me because I was really into Tequila Sunrise, a film from 1988, in which Michelle and Kurt play lovers…but not the OTP. The OTP is Michelle and Mel Gibson which is a whole ugh now, in 2026, but back then, well, we didn’t know. Tequila Sunrise, to me, is the kind of steamy, horny movie I associate with that decade, that they don’t make anymore, even though (from what I can remember) it only has one love scene – but that’s hard it hit that I still think about it. F-ck Mel Gibson.

As for her other project, Margo’s Got Money Troubles, this is Michelle working again with her husband IRL, David E Kelley, also starring Elle Fanning. She talks about both shows, plus all her other work, in a new profile with the New York Times and after reading it, once again, the point is … Michelle Pfeiffer is underrated. She probably doesn’t mind, sometimes, being underrated because she prefers to stay undercover but she doesn’t get enough credit for her talent as she does for her looks. I wonder if this will change with The Madison and Margo’s Got Money Troubles, particularly the latter. Her character is called Shyanne, “a former Hooters waitress now engaged to a youth minister” with lines like “I’m just terrible at everything except being pretty”. TikTok just might pop off over her.

Michelle was at The Late Show with Stephen Colbert yesterday, arriving in a belted shirt dress with sheer sleeves. The fabric of her dress makes it more elevated but the style itself, the belted shirt dress, is everywhere right now because it’s a spring staple. I just tried on a bunch during my most recent fitting for ETALK the other day and there are some really good ones out there – which surprised me, because I’m not a belt girl. I hate wearing a belt, almost always try to avoid it. If there’s a dress that comes with a belt, I will almost always get rid of it. But this is why our stylist, Simone, is so good at her job; she works within my limitations but also knows when to push, slightly. I ended up keeping several belted shirt dress options on the rack to wear as the weather gets warmer.

As mentioned, Michelle’s belted shirt dress is slightly elevated by the fabric and the sheer sleeve, since she was appearing on a late night talk show. It looks great on her, obviously, but might not be as versatile as some of the other options out there.

Reiss has a short-sleeve belted shirt dress that comes in navy and a really pretty rust colour. This will take you through spring, summer, and fall. Under a moto jacket, a jean jacket, a blazer, so many variations.

The Michael Kors belted shirt dress for this season is a classic, in three colourways. That shade of orange is excellent.

Banana Republic’s stretch poplin shirt dress is also a classic, with a low-profile belt that works well for the office but can transition to night. I tried it on under a crop jean jacket/blazer and could imagine myself going through an airport in the summer.

Mango has a slinkier option, not exactly a shirt dress because it has no buttons but the idea is there, plus it’s giving Carolyn Bessette Kennedy 90s vibes and this dark brown is so pretty.

I’ve always had good luck with Karen Millen and this denim shirt dress is one of the looks that I kept on that rack, I’ll probably wear it on the show in April. The denim is soft and the pockets give the skirt an extra swing.

Here’s another one I kept – a shorter floral print belted dress from Anthropologie and this is the selling feature: the belt is built-in, which means you can pull it on over your head and you don’t have to fuss with loops. This one is so f-cking cute I might keep it for good.

And I’m thinking of keeping this one too, as it also has a built-in belt. The Zara shirt dress comes in the perfect khaki, the way the belt is positioned, it creates a really chic blousing effect, and overall it’s such a nice hang and a great length. Plus it’s under $80.

Zara has a couple of these right now – there’s one with a short sleeve that’s also belted that would work great on summer holiday. This one is also still on the rack for the show.

Finally, Boden’s Adelaide Zip-Cord dress has a zipper instead of buttons, it’s corduroy so it’s excellent for April/May and September through November if you live where I do, looks so great with a tall boot or a sneaker, and I love it in latte (we kept it) but I would actually also get it in red.
