Dear Gossips,

Remember Reesa Teesa? She went mega viral earlier this year for her TikTok series Who TF Did I Marry, which ended up being over 50 videos that added up to over eight hours of viewing… and people were viewing. So, as I said at the time, everybody these days is chasing short-form content, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t value in taking the time to tell a story. And I also said at the time, “just like Aziah King with her Twitter thread, ultimately resulting in the film Zola, Reesa’s ordeal will probably get the Hollywood treatment”.

Well, six months later, this has happened.

So that’s Natasha Rothwell’s next project and sometimes the development process can take a while. But she has other projects that we’ll see a lot sooner. She’s returning for season three of The White Lotus and also, next week, her new series, How To Die Alone, premieres on Hulu. The premiere was last night.

Here’s a shot of Natasha and the team on the carpet.

Conrad Ricamora, Jocko Sims, Vera Santamaria, Tracy Underwood, Natasha Rothwell, KeiLyn Durrel Jones and Tara Duncan attend the Los Angeles premiere of Hulu And Onyx Collective's "How To Die Alone" at Nya Studios on September 04, 2024 in Los Angeles, California

I’m including this shot specifically because of Vera Santamaria. Vera is third from the left, in the black dress with the sheer bottom. She is the co-showrunner of How To Die Alone and for those of us in Canada, this is a major win for our creative community because Vera is from Toronto! She was also co-showrunner of Pen15 and has worked on other series: Orange is the New Black, Bojack Horseman, Community, Schitt’s Creek, and Ms Marvel.

I know Vera because she is one of Duana’s closest friends. She is exceptionally talented, she is getting sh-t done, and we are SO PROUD of her. How To Die Alone premieres in Canada on Disney+ on September 13. Please watch!

Yours in gossip,

Lainey
