I wrote about New Adult last week. Click here for a refresher. After that I read another called Deeper by Robin York. The formula is intact –  as you can see by the squicky title – but there’s a lot less eyeroll happening in this story. Also, the female lead isn’t a f-cking idiot as she is in so many NA reads. She’s also not helpless although she does, predictably, have some serious trust issues and a Major Problem to overcome. I liked the dialogue. I could “hear” it more than I normally can in these books. And there are some creative sex scenes which worked for a haggard c-nt like me who grew up in the 80s. Because I worry that there’s an entire generation that doesn’t know about good old fashioned PHONE SEX. I’ve had a lot of phone sex in my life. Not Facetime sex. Not Skype sex. Not text sex. Not iChat sex. But PHONE SEX. I just polled a few people at the office under 30 (WHY ARE THEY ALL UNDER 30?!?) and only 20% of them have had phone sex! Only 20%!

One of them yelled at me, “Who talks on the phone anymore?!?”

You people are missing out. Phone Sex is SO good.

Anyway, Deeper by Robin York was released today.
