A$AP Rocky’s new gig

A$AP Rocky has been in Los Angeles for weeks during his assault trial, but since being found not guilty, he can now come and go as he pleases. And he is pleased to be in Milan for fashion week, where sunglasses brand Ray-Ban threw a party after announcing Rocky as the brand’s first-ever creative director. 

Lainey dubbed Rocky the “new fashion king of the courtroom”, and the fits usually included sunglasses, even at night (Rocky and Rihanna are not defeating my theory that they are glamorous vampires). The sunglasses were also usually Ray-Bans, so this is a natural partnership for Rocky. I believe HE believes in the brand. And he’s dropping new glasses he designed this spring. Sign me up! No joke, I love sunglasses, I collect them, and vintage Ray-Bans are among my favorites. They just never go out of style. So a pair designed by A$AP Rocky? The jurisprudence fashion king? I am definitely into it. I bet they will be hard as sh-t to get, though. They’re gonna sell out, well, asap. 

Here is Rocky last night leaving the Ray-Ban party in Milan. As you can see, his court style continues, but now it is more “make it fashion”. The suit is oversized, the pants wide-legged; I do enjoy that Eighties relaxed fit coming back in menswear. The tiny suits of the last twenty years didn’t flatter a lot of men, even very fit men didn’t look great in those super slim suits. But the Eighties power suit silhouette can work in so many ways. Here, for instance, Rocky paired it with a leather jacket, for a touch of Americana. He looks like a banker…if that banker was a glamorous vampire.
