It’s been six weeks since news broke that Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban had split, and that it was Keith who wanted out of the marriage and Nicole who was trying to save it. And since then, the overwhelming reaction has been… Keith, you fool. On so many levels, but we’re talking specifically here about the public relations fumbles. Because it really did seem like he was the one who wanted to go public with it when it went public, and for him, the timing could not have been worse.

Their oldest child, Sunday Rose, was about to walk in Jonathan Anderson’s first women’s show for Dior at Paris Fashion Week. A few days later, Nicole was big news at Chanel for Mathieu Blazy’s debut as creative director, returning to the house as an ambassador. She also opened Vogue World Hollywood and she went viral a few days ago when Sabrina Carpenter “arrested” her at her concert. And in Nashville, no less. Nashville is where Nicole lives, she proudly said she was from Nashville, by way of Australia. But… like… Keith is the country music star, it’s *supposed* to be his town. And here’s his estranged wife taking over the real estate.

You’ll never convince me that this wasn’t the best kind of petty, she just keeps dunking on him.

In other Nicole news, though, because she is the woman who never stops working – it was just announced that she’s joined the cast of Osgood Perkins’s The Young People. I first mentioned this project back in September, in a post about Lola Tung’s post-The Summer I Turned Pretty choices.

The movie stars Lola and Nico Parker, it’s a horror movie, Nicole will have a supporting but significant role and her involvement is no doubt a big get for the filmmakers who are selling international rights to the film this week. Also, it’s not like this is unfamiliar territory for Nicole – if you haven’t seen her work in The Others, highly recommend. She filmed The Others in late 2000, and two months later, in February 2001, she and Tom Cruise announced their divorce. It’s interesting when horror movies come back into her life, non? By the way, she has three television series and two films in the pipeline, not including this new one.

To go back to Nicole x Chanel – and the difference Mathieu Blazy has made at the house already, Nicole’s stylist Jason Bolden just posted this photo this morning. Still Chanel, timeless and classic, but also so much more fresh and exciting.
