The leading candidate for nothingburger story of the year so far goes to TMZ with their report earlier this week that there’s a wealthy man who wants to date Nicole Kidman. I’m sure there are many rich dudes who want to date Nicole Kidman, how is this news? Apparently they have mutual friends and have twice been in the same room at the same time with said mutual friends and… that’s it. Now he’s “romantically pursuing” her and shooting his shot by putting his thirst on main.

In response to that nothingburger, Page Six countered with one of their own claiming to “reveal [her] relationship status” which has not changed since she divorced Keith Urban, so it’s a mystery to me how they can call this an “exclusive” but here we, that’s journalism in 2026, complete with bad grammar source quotes. Here’s the romance update on Nicole that an insider gave Page Six:

“She is not dating anyone, but she is a single woman.”

“She is not dating anyone, BUT she is a single woman” (emphasis mine) is such a stupid thing to say, both parts of that sentence mean the same thing, what is the BUT there for????????????????????????

Let me stop yelling through punctuation and focus on something else related to Nicole, who breezed through Sydney last week in her natural curls wearing a perfect travel outfit. For me it’s the jacket that makes it – a classic Chanel. If you can afford it, by all means, have at her, because the original will always be the standard.

If, like me, your bank account doesn’t support Chanel, there are some good dupes – and I know this because I’ve recently tried on a few for our show over the last few weeks. Nicole’s basically wearing a cropped peacoat and since we’re at the end of the season, there are many cropped peacoat options that are on sale, and you can wear them through the spring.

That definitely applies to the Sanctuary Karlie Wool-Blend Cropped Peacoat that comes in this lovely creamy mushroom tone. For travel, you want a jacket like this to be roomy to slip it on and off easily. This one was so light but also warm enough for in-between seasons and I love the boxy fit.

Coach has a short trench that functions in the same way – not a true peacoat but works in the spirit of Nicole’s jacket. I like this one so much I might keep it, especially since the sale price is excellent.

The Lacoste peacoat is also on sale, it comes in grey, and works with everything. When I tried it on I was in joggers and sneakers with an oversized turtleneck and that is exactly how I want to move through an airport.

Massimo Dutti’s version comes in a light brown that can also read grey and the collar is versatile – flipped down it’s a regular-ish peacoat but flip it up and you get a style change plus added protection. This jacket hangs so nicely and can layer well for when you’re travelling.

For the best deal, it’s Everlane’s Rewool Short Peacoat. It’s currently under $150, all sizes are still available, and it will never go out of style.

My two personal favourites from the rack…

Maison Kitsuné is a French-Japanese brand, one of my favourites. And their Cropped Peacoat is f-cking stunning. It’s marked down right now – still expensive but not as expensive – and if you’re into it, it’s an investment piece.

Finally, Banana Republic coming through again with the Italian Melton Wool-Blend Peacoat. She’s a dream on the body, comes in navy and yellow and… the yellow is a statement. Yellow is the one we kept on the rack.
