All week we’ve been talking about Emmy nominations with the nomination voting period starting on June 13. I posted photos from an FYC event for The Morning Show a few days ago and the headliners where that show is concerned are, of course, Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Jon Hamm. There is another cast member of The Morning Show who experts are also predicting will secure a nomination in the Supporting Actress (Drama) category, and it would be her first: our crush and collective award season obsession, Greta Lee. 

 

Greta’s been working a long time, and Past Lives was her breakout. Didn’t result in an Oscar nomination (I’m still salty about this) but, as Sarah has said often, award season is also about setting up future opportunities, but those opportunities are not evenly distributed. Some people experience award season on the periphery and the next thing you know they’re getting cast in everything. Some people, and it’s most often people of colour, well, I know you know this song. 

 

So where is all the Greta Lee casting news?! Why aren’t we hearing more of it? Any of it, actually. I can’t remember seeing any new project announcements involving Greta Lee, and now I’m even saltier. A mood change is in order then. And Greta’s doing that work, too, with a bomb ass look. 

Greta was at Variety’s TV FYC Fest yesterday and Lord help me… this outfit, whatever we may have to endure this afternoon, whatever Friday dumps might be heading our way, at least we have this outfit. 

 

Greta Lee is serving, always. 

 

Loewe, probably. The way the belt is designed into that shirt, it’s a Loewe detail. But it’s more than just the belt, it’s the way the belt works to create that slouchy but still structured shape, so that the bottom of the shirt kinda bubbles, like a skirt. I want this shirt in my life SO BAD. I want pink and olive in my life SO bad. This colour combination, we don’t see it that often, and on Greta it’s so fresh and funky, because who else is this fresh and funky?!

Greta was robbed of an Oscar nomination. Maybe the Television Academy won’t make the same mistake and we’ll see her during Emmy campaign season through the summer – which means more LOOKS. No but seriously, one more time… this f-cking shirt.

Also, honourable mention to Lewis Pullman who was also there campaigning for a nomination for his work in Lessons in Chemistry. As noted, Sarah was on this first, how sexy he is. I picked it up while I was watching the series. It’s a slow burn, but when the Lewis Pullman effect catches fire, you feel it all over.
