I wish we could all, together, have the experience of watching, in person, Fan Bingbing arrive at a red carpet event. It’s breathtaking. At the Oscars 2023, when she showed up in that incredible green Tony Ward dress, there was a palpable ripple. “Who is that?” they all asked before they realised. It was such a moment for her, after a few years of exile, literally. And from there she picked up some much-needed momentum, especially in the fashion world.

Bingbing always brings the style drama. She was made for the most extra of dresses, she understands the art of MORE. Which is why she’s so perfect for haute couture – and this week in Paris, she just kept serving and serving and serving. Now that Paris Haute Couture week is over, here’s the Fan Bingbing highlight package. Every look, really, was a highlight. But we’ll start with what she wore to Vogue World because this Hanfu peacock robe is a f-cking dream.

To me it’s giving Chinese imperial court robe, what high-ranking officials would wear, and of course the emperor’s would have dragons on it, in yellow. And obviously back in those ancient times, this was men’s fashion and Bingbing is blending that cultural history with her own brand of femininity on a global stage.

Next, Bingbing in Iris Van Herpen. What did I tell you about Bingbing and drama. Our girl loves an over-the-top dress, and she is so great at wearing the sh-t out of it.

From sculpture to sequins – red and clingy and tapering to light purple cuffs and gloves? This is not a problem, not for Bingbing, and have you ever seen such a perfect red lip?

Remember it was that Tony Ward dress at the Oscars where she created all that buzz, so she’s showing up again for Tony Ward in pink and this is an example of how, for Bingbing, it’s never too much, LOL. Bright pink with the hip swirl and on top of it, all that embellishment on the arms, with the hair worn so long and so straight tumbling all around her and dark and dramatic eyes… but somehow it’s all just right.

Same energy at Georges Chakra. That’s already a lot of silver, and a lot of dress, and a lot of robe on top of the dress, and a giant neckpiece, and heavy eye makeup, AND another red lip. She doesn’t break a sweat.

But then look what she brings to dark and mysterious at Viktor & Rolf. First of all, the design itself is exquisite – the dress is giving both film noir and dystopian, I love how they’ve imagined those two vibes together. And leave it to Bingbing to really add her own personality to the look and elevate it to a whole other level.

My favourite, though, from Bingbing’s entire week is her look at Stephane Rolland. She’s been his muse for years, they’ve collaborated for over a decade, it’s always a showstopper when she shows up in his clothes. And this time is no different. The simple white top to offset all that gold, from the turban headband to the elaborate cuffs, the belt, and the skirt with the cascading stones, and it’s Bingbing who brings all of it to life. Day after day after day and nothing but slay!
