Last year I thought very seriously about a pair of Paul Smith shoes embroidered at the heel. Eventually I had to walk away. It seemed like they were better on a shelf, admired, than on my feet, sure to be trashed. Celebrities can do a one wear shoe at a thousand dollars and not have to work about a scuff or a nick. It’s so hard to justify as a regular person.
