Other sexy men
Now that we have ushered in a new era of Sexiest Man Alive—long may the Viscount reign!—let’s catch up with a couple other sexy men. Pedro Pascal is in Los Angeles, working on a new film with Andor’s Tony Gilroy, Behemoth!. It’s about a family of musicians and/or a cellist. A family of musicians and one of them is a cellist? Details are scarce, as they are wont to be, but it’s definitely something about musicians. The film also stars Olivia Wilde and David Harbour, so…that’s gonna be a super fun set around about now, I’m sure.
David Harbour has had a rapid fall from grace as one of the internet’s go-to daddies, but Pedro remains perennially unproblematic (as long as you don’t mind his activism, that is. I’m sure there is a quadrant who does not like him on those grounds). Though he is not the SMA of 2025, he remains a sexy man in our hearts and minds. You know what I like a lot about Pedro? He’s REALLY good at managing his profile and he always knows when to take a step back. And he’s gearing up for a big 2026, with a Star War and a Marvel on the schedule, so it’s not like he won’t have plenty of opportunity to wear Fashion and flirt with cameras around the world next year. For now, we shall settle for him flirting with cameras on his way to work. Oh Pedro. You scamp.
In other almost-SMA news, Glen Powell has officially begun the Running Man trot with the film’s Paris premiere. There was, of course, speculation that Powell turned down SMA last year, which, if true, was maybe a deferral, not a total decline. After all, a major reason a lot of us put him at the top of our SMA odds is because Powell is so game, so clearly willing to play with the celebrity machine (complimentary). It’ll happen eventually.
Speaking of The Running Man, the early box office tracking is calling for a $40-50 million opening weekend, and boy, does Hollywood need it. We’re just coming off the worst Halloween box office weekend in decades, with the domestic revenue hitting a 31-year low. It is BLEAK. The box office needs a win, and hopefully the one-two punch of Running Man and Wicked: For Good can fuel a brighter November, setting up a stronger December. This year won’t be setting any “best of” records, but hopefully we can avoid the worst of’s, too. It’ll be a real test for Glen Powell’s star power. Tom Cruise saved cinemas after COVID. I don’t expect the same from Glen at this stage, but if he could pump the brakes on the downward spiral we’re in, that would be great. That would be legit Movie Star business.
