PEOPLE Magazine is reporting that Prince Harry is inviting King Charles and Prince William to the Invictus Games in London. What’s interesting is that this came from a reliable publication with close ties to Harry and Meghan’s team but it is sourced from Mail on Sunday, which I think would be tied to the royal rota. But the story isn’t strong for either side: the angle of Harry inviting them plays into the “he’s desperate to come back!” narrative, and Charles and William not attending (which they won’t) plays into the coldness of the Royal Family.

The third option is that neither side likes this story and it was low-hanging fruit.

First off, I completely forgot that Miley Cyrus and Patrick Schwarzenegger dated. Some couples don’t become a seminal pop culture footnote. But Andy Cohen and the WWHL team did try to get Arnold to say something shady about her and not only did he refuse but he was effusive in his praise of her. He said she’s a great houseguest, which is a solid quality in an adult. An underrated quality, really.

Tyler, the Creator wants to end podcast culture, saying in part, “I think we give a lot of people who aren’t smart and just want attention platforms to be loud and incorrect, and other stupid people follow them. Where are the people with skills? We need electricians, we need more drummers, painters, teachers.” The genre could certainly do with some pruning and that will happen naturally. It is happening. The loud and dominant podcasts are very dominant but the mid-tier usually quietly disappears without much fanfare.

He also wants to gatekeep restaurants from TikTokers. On the one hand, I feel this. I hate when there’s a full photoshoot at the table next to me and I want to scarf my food in anonymity. On the other hand, times are tough for small businesses and one viral reel can pay the rent.

Lainey wrote about Tom Cruise this morning and this Michael Cera anecdote is perfectly timed for it. Tom Cruise gave him a bit of the business for talking during a take. Not Christian Bale level, but Tom Cruise level. Intense but “I’m joking!” with a big smile that doesn’t reach his eyes. On the energy spectrum, can any two individuals be considered more energetically opposed than Michael Cera and Tom Cruise?

A lot of podcast talk today, which proves they aren’t over (sorry Tyler, the Creator). Jesse Tyler Ferguson had lunch with Alexander Skarsgård and Alex wore an excellent fuzzy sweater and protected it from his spaghetti with a napkin tucked into his shirt. Is it just me or is the napkin endearing? Or is it because of who the napkin is attached to? He has strong dork energy in a subtle way, not in the “omgggg I’m soooooo quirky” way. This is the second time I’ve written about Jesse’s podcast in a week and it’s because he is so well-connected in Hollywood that he has the best guests.
