Models and rock stars were the height of cool in the 80s and people who don’t “get” Christie Brinkley/Billy Joel are not fun gossips.

HGTV has been on a cancellation streak and this Deadline story gets into details, including the skyrocketing cost of construction materials and major delays in delivery of things like wood, which then delays shooting. In real life, renovation costs can quickly get out of hand and anyone who works in TV can tell you that every hour of delay equals real dollars.

Then there’s the issue of the hosts, who come with their own fandoms; a source told Deadline, “They allowed their talent to run amok.” Reportedly, one of the mandates under new leadership is to integrate pop culture while cutting the budget. One specific show mentioned is Jack McBrayer in Zillow Gone Wild. Good name for a show.

I like how Macaulay Culkin is getting to experience these pop culture moments that he probably didn’t get to have when he was younger because he was working, and then recovering from being overworked.

Lainey wrote about Canadian JT and Katy Perry and when we talk about random summer pairings,  this is what we mean!!! Bring it on. And Canada is in the mix. Martha Stewart and Drake? The whole world is possible.

Luke Bryan was hit in the face at a concert, a crappy thing that happens to artists too often. This is mega asshole behaviour. What is the thrower thinking? I know none of us are throwers but I’d like to read an anonymous interview with one because what is the point of throwing something at someone who is already engaging with the crowd? Like what is the goal? I don’t get it. I would love a “bad behaviour” series so we can get inside the minds of these maladjusted people. Start with the throwers and work our way down to the “FaceTime in public people.” I’m convinced these are the same people. It would be like a true crime series but instead of serial killers, it would go deep into the mind of people who ask someone who has paid for an aisle seat to switch with them on an airplane.
