President Obama was in Detroit yesterday campaigning for Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz. It was politics but also pop culture, because on the off chance you hadn’t heard, Eminem introduced President Obama and then President Obama kicked off his remarks by rapping a few lines from “Lose Yourself” and, not surprisingly, the crowd went wild. I just wish the cameras had panned to Eminem quickly at that point because I would love to have seen his reaction. If you’ve seen it, send it to me. Or share it in The Squawk chat! (Pajiba)

Speaking of The Squawk, our newsletter yesterday was about classic celebrity photos and the ones that will remain burned into our memories. I couldn’t narrow it down to a single shot so I came up with a list, and one of the photos on the list a picture of Tom Cruise that I will never, ever be able to unsee and it’s shocking to me that so many people aren’t aware of its existence. I guess this is the biggest accomplishment in my career – to introduce people to this photo. (The Squawk)

Sarah Jessica Parker on the set of And Just Like That in a very Carrie outfit that feels… dated. Doesn’t it feel dated? If I hadn’t known that these shots were taken this week, I would have easily believed that we were looking at a costume from Sex and the City. (Go Fug Yourself)

We’ve known for many years, for almost as long as we’ve known Mariah Carey, how she feels about bad lighting. To her, it’s a crime. I work in television, I also see it as a crime. If a place is badly lit, Mimi feels “most tortured”, LOL. And the sh-tty lighting really is everywhere. Wherever she goes, it’s haunting her. Is it possible to go as “bad lighting” for Halloween? This is the costume that would terrify her most. (Celebitchy)

It’s been almost a week. What songs do you have on repeat? I’ll tell you what song my brain keeps repeating – or, rather, what sounds: “ah-pah-teu pa-teu, ah-pah-teu pa-teu”, as in “APT.”, Rosé’s irresistible new track featuring Bruno Mars. I love the song and I love the video, which is now the fastest video in 2024 to hit 100 million views. “Apateu pateu, apateu pateu!” (Soompi)
