Goddamn Timothee Chalamet is pretty. Look at that bone structure. It’s just… such a pretty face. Also I love him in this red suit. Louis Vuitton, styled similarly to how it was sent down the runway, with just a plain red t-shirt underneath but with crisp, sharp white sneakers instead of boots. Which probably you can only get away with if you’re Timmy Chalamet, all of 22 years old. Like, my dad kinda dresses like this, the way he wears his pants, with senior citizen footwear, and it’s definitely not the same effect.

Timmy is promoting Beautiful Boy, in the hopes of generating momentum for the film, of course, but also there may be a Best Supporting Actor nomination on the line. Many experts think he’s got a shot at being among the five actors called to Oscar. He’s also started working on Greta Gerwig’s Little Women. Photos are also attached here of Emma Watson as Meg March on set. Timmy spoke to Variety on the carpet last night at the Beautiful Boy premiere about the shoot. What he said about Greta really jumped out at me:

“I would do anything Greta wanted me to be a part of.”

It’s not just the sweetness of the sentiment. It’s also that when we normally hear actors talk like that about directors, it’s almost always male directors. Scorsese, Spielberg, Eastwood, Burton, Villeneuve, PTA, Chazelle, David O Russell, Wes Anderson, Fincher, you know the list, it’s longer than that. We don’t have a list as long like that for women. Or for very many auteurs of colour. But it’s happening. Guillermo Del Toro and Alfonso Cuaron have established themselves. Michael B Jordan has spoken like this about Ryan Coogler. Timmy is now saying it about Greta. They’re starting to say it about Barry Jenkins. And Ava DuVernay. And that list will start growing, right?
