Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor was born last Friday, June 4, 2021. She was named after her great-grandmother, the Queen of England, who was called by the nickname when she was young, and her late grandmother Princess Diana. We have been told by her parents, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, that she will go by “Lili”.

You’d think that would be the end of the story – this is a baby, after all. And who has sh-t to say about babies. Well. The British tabloids always, reliably, come with the f-cksh-t. They are obsessed with getting to the bottom of whether or not Harry and Meghan got the Queen’s permission for the name. The energy being put into this investigation, though. Like it’s a matter of national security. Seriously.

But for whatever reason, people are persisting with this narrative: to prove that Harry and Meghan, in naming their beloved child after Her Majesty, actually went out of their way to insult Her Majesty. You don’t have to be a parent to understand that this is idiotic thinking. This has nothing to do with insulting anyone. This only has to do with love. They love their babies, more than anything else, and they have given their baby a name out of love. Period. Nobody needs to be family-feuding here, not when it’s all and only love. Right?

And yet.

“The BBC’s royal correspondent, Jonny Dymond, reported that the Queen had not been consulted about the name. The BBC did not quote the source for its story directly, but Dymond said on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme that the source had made it very clear that the Sussexes had not asked permission to use the name and that none had been granted.”

So it’s not just British tabloids, it’s also royal aides, whoever these sources are who want this narrative pushed out publicly – that the Queen was not asked for permission and did not grant it. And now the Sussexes’ legal team has written to the BBC telling them about themselves. That they are wrong. Per the Guardian:

“A spokesperson for the Sussexes insisted the Queen was told in advance about the name and that the couple would not have used it had the monarch disapproved.

The spokesperson said: “The duke spoke with his family in advance of the announcement – in fact, his grandmother was the first family member he called.

“During that conversation, he shared their hope of naming their daughter Lilibet in her honour. Had she not been supportive, they would not have used the name.”

Lawyers for Harry and Meghan have written to the media asserting that the BBC’s claims are false and defamatory.”

Harry and Meghan are being harassed…over their baby name. And who is this helping? For the tabloids, obviously, they’re the most invested in the royal family feud and can’t get enough of Harry and Meghan even though they claim to be over Harry and Meghan. But for the royal family? They don’t want their family fracture making headlines. That’s not their brand, remember? So why are these royal aides out here entertaining this mess?

Why are they adding to this ridiculous pursuit over a baby name? Why are they ENCOURAGING this ugliness? They represent Her Majesty and the Monarchy. How does this serve the Monarchy?!

It’s another example of the petty bullsh-t power games that these viper courtiers have been engaging in for years, and often at the actual expense of the Firm that they’ve pledged their loyalty to. This is what creates an internal, toxic environment behind the palace gates. Which is why you have to wonder – why is the senior leadership of the royal family letting this happen? How are Prince Charles and Prince William OK with this? And if they’re not, why aren’t they putting a stop to it? Is it because they don’t actually have a say, which means they are powerless, or is it because they don’t actually want to, which means they are… ?
