Jennifer Aniston has a direct connection to Dolly Parton because of Dumplin’. The main character in Julie Murphy’s book, which was adapted into a film, is Willowdean who loves Dolly and who learns to love herself through Dolly’s music. The story is basically a love letter to Dolly and everything she represents.

Dolly does not appear in the film but she was heavily involved as a producer and also contributed to every song on the soundtrack. Jennifer’s producing partner, Kristin Hahn, paid tribute to Dolly and shared behind the scenes memories of her and from the film on Instagram yesterday.

Dolly was part of the press tour for the movie, and was paired with Jen for several interviews. One of the most notable moments from the junket was when Sandra Bullock crashed their room with tequila. This was viral back in 2018 and it’s viral again now as people are rewatching so many of Dolly’s most memorable moments.

Dolly and Sandy, of course, have their own connection from Miss Congeniality 2 in which Dolly makes a cameo. In Sandy’s letter to Dolly asking – begging – her to be in the movie, apparently every other word was “please”. And Dolly agreed right away, her response was simply, “Okay”. In the scene, Gracie thinks the real Dolly is a Dolly Parton impersonator and… well… this happens.

Sandra Bullock will forever be able to say that she tackled, straddled, and poked at Dolly Parton’s boobs. With permission.

Here’s Jennifer Aniston, one of Sandy’s very best friends, out with some other friends last night for dinner, alongside her boyfriend Jim Curtis. Will Arnett and Jason Bateman were there, and so were Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow. Sunset Tower is to Jen what Giorgio Baldi is to Rihanna.

What else happened today…

Xochitl Gonzalez thanks God for Dolly Parton’s boobs. (The Cut)

Harry Styles kicks off his 30-show residency at Madison Square Garden tonight and was seen yesterday in NYC looking unbothered and wearing the sh-t out of a pair of grey-brown trousers. You will note that Harry is using corded earbuds. Maria posted earlier this week about corded earbuds and their resurgence, and how they are superior to the wireless ones. I HARD AGREE with her on this, for all the same reasons: I f-cking hate wireless earbuds, they don’t stay in the ear, the sound quality is sh-t. I mostly use headphones, but if I’m low on battery, the backup is always, always, always corded, never wireless. (Go Fug Yourself)

Viola Davis does not believe that Target is sorry – and she’s taking it public, as she should! (Pajiba)

Consort Camilla was apparently asked to be in the new season of Only Murders in the Building filming in the UK but there was a scheduling issue. I want to know what was pitched to her. Because if they wrote a part for her as the next person who gets murdered (fictionally!), LOLOLOLOL. (Celebitchy)

By the end of the year, after BTS, Olivia Rodrigo will probably rank pretty high on my most-listened list and I love her new track, “serena joy”. As Ella Taverner writes, it’s a “powerful meditation on solidarity and resistance”. (Refinery 29)
