Saoirse Ronan did not receive a Golden Globe nomination today, not for her performance in The Outrun and not for her performance in Blitz. That does not mean, however, that she won’t hear her name called when Critics Choice makes their nominations announcement tomorrow. Interestingly enough, Critics Choice announced their television nominations last week and her husband, Jack Lowden, did not receive a nomination for his work in Slow Horses, though the show was nominated for Best Drama Series.

At the Globes, however, Jack’s name was called this morning in the supporting actor category, alongside Gary Oldman in the lead actor category. So there is a chance that Saoirse will still be at the Globes to support Jack, just as he was at the British Independent Film Awards last night in London to support her.

If you’ve been reading this site over the years, you’re probably familiar with how we feel about Saoirse here: we LOVE her. It’s been only love since Atonement. That said, I’ve come into my love for Jack Lowden and Jack + Saoirse only recently, very recently. Because Jacek and I just binged all four seasons of Slow Horses in two weeks and I get it now. I mean I don’t get River Cartwright because, well, he’s a f-ckup (which is why he’s in Slough House) but Jack has made him such an interesting and layered character. And, despite River’s shortcomings, yes, he’s hot AF.

So our girl has found herself a talented, unthirsty match. It’s been six years that they’ve been together, but these two do not perform their relationship in public and they don’t step out much at industry events. We did see them at the Emmys, though, and again last night, and so the upcoming award show season could give us a lot more opportunity to enjoy Saoirse and Jack before they go back to their quiet, undercover life and their work. Jack wrapped on season five of Slow Horses back in October, around the time Apple announced that season six has been greenlit. This series deserves an award based on its efficiency alone!
