For Sophie and Jesse – CONGRATULATIONS on your wedding tomorrow! No, but, seriously… Sophie… 

I have known you since forever. Since you were such a bright spark, sitting at dinner with the grownups absorbing everything, full of curiosity and enthusiasm, and I’m sure I don’t have to tell you but I’ll tell you anyway, because I love Michelle so much – she is so proud of you for how hard you have worked, how you continue to learn and advocate, and the thoughtful and caring person you have become. 

Jacek and I are sending our best wishes to you and Jesse as you start your life together. Now, since I’m an auntie, let me give you some advice, even though you didn’t ask for it, because that’s what aunties do! As you have seen from Michelle and Carlo, marriage is a partnership. And it won’t always be as fun as it will be on your wedding day. But that’s OK too because I know you’re a realist. Keep talking to each other, and keep choosing each other every day. Marriage isn’t magic, there’s a lot of work involved, but don’t forget to play too! Make sure you work that camera tomorrow too. Every single angle!
