Intro for January 9, 2023

Dear Gossips,   

There’s a ginger out here in these streets sucking up all the gossip oxygen. Let’s start the week off on a different kind of ginger energy though – double ginger energy, in fact. Maybe you’ve already seen it, but if not, no other video on social media gave me as much joy as this video this weekend. 

Forever and ever, Whitney! Forever and ever! I had that on replay several times yesterday, already a highlight of 2023. 

Staying in the hair space though, Shawn Mendes has decided to kick off 2023 with a new hairstyle. Shawn’s hair has been part of his whole look since he debuted – he has great hair, thick and wavy/curly … and now he’s buzzed it off. New year, new hair indeed. And the reaction from some of his fans, LOL. 

Haircuts like this aren’t casual, usually. Especially at this time of year. That is, when a person goes for it like this, it represents more than just a mood. It’s a self-declaration of something, a reset, an internal shift. I wonder, then, what Shawn has planned for 2023, what this era will represent for him. If I were him, though, I would have bleached it first, gone platinum for a few weeks, and then the clippers.
