Intro for July 8, 2025

Dear Gossips,   

There were a lot of people online yesterday talking about Timothée Chalamet, which is not unusual – it’s been a couple of months since he’s been out in public and Timmy is always good to go viral, especially when he’s with Kylie Jenner. Plus, while she was in vintage Jean Paul Gaultier, he was wearing a scarf over his ballcap and he was all about the scarves during award season when he was nominated for playing Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown. Paper Magazine’s headline said he was debuting “Strega Nona style” for the summer. 

Strega Nona was viral last fall, not for fashion but for food, when the weather was cooling and people started getting cozy and making big pot meals. This, of course, was inspired by the children’s book, Strega Nona, by Tomie dePaola. 

And now nine months later it’s being invoked in an entirely different way in response to Timmy’s head accessory which may have been an attempt to cover a newly shaved head because the back of it looks buzzed, perhaps as he prepares to start shooting Denis Villenueve’s Dune: Messiah – word is they’re starting this week in Hungary as Zendaya has been spotted in Budapest.

Before we go crediting Timmy as the first for this look though, put some respect on Jimin’s name. As pointed out by a member of our Squawk community yesterday, Jimin was making a statement with a headscarf way back in 2021, not just for a leisurely day at the beach but in official promotional photos for BTS Season’s Greetings album…
