Team Anora at the SAGs
Anora has been all over awards season, a multiple nominee at every major awards show—and a sometimes winner—but they got shut out last night at the SAGs. Bad for them going into Oscar week, but good for us because it means Best Picture is still competitive, which is more exciting. (My Oscar predictions will be in the Squawk newsletter this week, so make sure you’re subscribed!)
While she didn’t win a trophy, it was a good night, sartorially, for Mikey Madison, who wore a silver custom Louis Vuitton gown.

Mikey’s awards season fashion has been solid but not extraordinary. This gown is one of her better looks, maybe her best one so far—which suggests she’s ramping up for the Oscars next weekend. It’s styled perfectly with the necklace and bold red lip, and Mikey has such striking coloring with her very fair skin and very dark hair, the silver is a perfect complement. The whole look is just very cohesive.
Also at the SAGs were Mikey’s co-star and fellow nominee, Yura Borisov, co-star Mark Eydelshteyn, and director Sean Baker and his wife and producing partner, Samantha Quan. The praise and nominations heaped on Mikey Madison and Yura Borisov are well deserved, but somehow Mark Eydelshteyn flew under the radar this awards season. He plays SUCH a good twerp in Anora. This is why I wish the Oscars gave awards for very specific things, because “Best Twerp” would definitely go to Eydelshteyn. The minute Vanya shows up, you know exactly who he is. Ani is the only one who can’t—or won’t—see what a twerp he is. Anyway, next weekend is the last hurrah for Team Anora. Will they pull out one last prize? From Palme d’Or all the way to Oscar?
