It was Teyana Taylor who hosted the CFDAs last night – one day she’ll probably return to the event to win the Style Icon award. Pretty sure no one is arguing with me here.

Teyana served four different looks at the event, all Thom Browne. All four were a slamdunks, but this is my personal favourite, for all the colours, and the ties, and the layers, and the structure, and the fact that even there is so much going on here, it doesn’t look like there’s too much going on. Most people would be drowned by all the detail, but Teyana is such a force it’s impossible to drown her, she’ll always been the heavyweight.

We’ve seen a lot of Teyana lately, and what’s extra amazing about that is that even though she’s been on so many carpets, for so many appearances, the looks outfits have all been fresh, none of them blurring together, and it’s been sustained excellence. From the One Battle After Another press tour to the All’s Fair press tour that’s occupied her time the last few weeks, and all the galas in between, somehow Teyana has maintained originality and freshness.

There will be more. Because Teyana is a contender! She’s on most prediction lists for a Best Supporting Actress nomination for her impressive work in One Battle After Another. Because it’s her character, Perfidia Beverly Hills, who informs the entire film. Teyana anchors the first act and the rest of the story revolves around her presence, so even though she disappointingly disappears for the rest of the movie, her presence is palpable, she may not be onscreen but her spirit looms; she is so unforgettable in the first 30 minutes of the movie that her essence is basically branded into the film. This is exactly what you want in a supporting performance. So while Ariana Grande may be considered the frontrunner right now in the category, do not ever count out Teyana.

What else happened today…

Teyana is one of the stars of Ryan Murphy’s All’s Fair, but she won’t go down for it because there’s someone else the public is all too willing to blame for how bad it is: Kim Kardashian. And from the sounds of it, All’s Fair is very, very bad. (I’m still watching the first episode tonight, I can’t help myself.) The show is getting critically destroyed, although that doesn’t mean it won’t find an audience. If there’s anyone who seems immune to criticism, it’s Kim K. And also Ryan Murphy, come to think of it. Like All’s Fair, The Diplomat is also a show that is absurd… but also very real, and sometimes too raw. I love it so much, just finished season three last night, and the episode featured a dinner party scene with some of the best dialogue I’ve watched all season. It’s eight people, four married couples, basically spitting poison at each other through their words. The scene is brutal and mean, hilarious, and recognisable as a meditation on a certain kind of marriage. I’m so sad that we have to wait another year to find out how what happens to the messiest couple on television and what the f-ck Hal Wyler will do next. Seriously this is Rufus Sewell’s greatest role. In this new interview, he talks about how he approaches his character. (Goldderby)

Rita Ora in all pink and I think she thinks it’s more interesting than it is. (Go Fug Yourself)

There’s a gold toilet out there that someone will buy. Non-white toilets, in my opinion, are ridiculous. This one is probably the most ridiculous but also ridiculous are the black ones at those trendy restaurants. For health reasons, don’t we want to be able to see the proper colour and texture of our eliminations?! (Celebitchy)

What does Shania Twain-ing mean to you? It’s not a common thing…but there are people who have Shania Twain-ed, and they are profiled in this piece about people who hook up with the exes of the people who they were cheated on with. I had to read that sentence back three times, but that’s exactly what it is. (The Cut)
