Back in October, when pap photos of Tom Cruise and Hayley Atwell shooting Mission: Impossible 7 in Italy were released, I posted about their “vibration”. This is how director Christopher McQuarrie described their chemistry, that the energy between Tom and Hayley is a “vibration”. As I said at the time, it was only a matter of time before there would be reports about how that vibration had turned romantic.
And now just days after their exclusive about Tom’s on-set blowup over crew members not observing social distancing, The Sun is reporting that Tom and Hayley are indeed a couple. Apparently they showed up to a recent screening together holding hands and a production source tells The Sun that:
“Tom and Hayley hit it off from day one. Lockdown, and all the difficulties that came with it, brought them even closer and they’ve become fairly inseparable. They’ve been meeting up after hours, and she’s been to his London pad. They get on brilliantly, and both seem very happy.”
A production source? Is this the same source who leaked the tape? Or is it a different source who doesn’t want us to be thinking about the tape anymore and the five staffers who’ve reportedly quit because of it and would prefer that we focus on Tom’s love life?
I mean, in this case specifically, I guess it can be both, sure. And it definitely enhances the Captain Hollywood narrative which is that Tom Cruise is Captain Hollywood and Captain Hollywood and the real-life Peggy Carter are falling in love. If this is true, how discreet will they keep it? Or are we going balls-out again like it was the last time Tom fell in love?
