What Else?
Vanity Fair’s new cover story is about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, reported by Anna Peele. This story was likely timed to the release of With Love, Meghan that was supposed to premiere this week but has now been pushed back to March because of the LA wildfires. H&M did not participate in the story, they actually use a stock photo for the cover. And … well… there is going to be a reaction to it, as there always is where the Sussexes are concerned. So get ready for days and days of discourse. I’ll talk about it more on Monday. Full disclosure: I am quoted a few times in this piece. (Vanity Fair)
Everyone I know at TIFF who saw Better Man, the Robbie Williams biopic, was really into it. I’m not saying they thought it was the best movie ever made, but it was a big swing about a fascinating subject who is actually more willing than most other popstars to tell his story with restrained vanity. But as Kayleigh Donaldson points out in this excellent piece, Americans just don’t get him. And, maybe, by having a chimp play him in his movie, that might have been his point? (Pajiba)
Whenever I get to wear Thom Browne, it’s a good day. And though it can happen from time to time with some other favoured brands, Thom Browne has yet to disappoint. This is another crazy good collection and I f-cking LOVE the dog print set SO much. He’s also done a great job incorporating the florals this season. And I’m so into the peek of pleating and/or tulle underneath some of the longer skirts that work as layering. (Go Fug Yourself)
Travis Kelce says Taylor Swift is not encouraging him to retire. This makes sense. It’s attractive when your lover is good at their job. And the girl loves a winner. Why would she want him to retire? Also… it can be, um, weird when a top pro athlete hangs it up. They’ve dedicated their whole lives up to that point to the sport. And, oftentimes, they don’t know what to do with themselves afterwards. Yes, Travis has more non-football related endeavours lined up than most that he can occupy himself with. But, still, retirement is going to be an adjustment. Let’s not pretend he’s that great of a game show host or actor. (Celebitchy)
How devoted are Twilight fans now that we’re over a decade past the hype? Are they devoted enough to go out and get a Twilight Lego set? (The Mary Sue)
