Intro for May 11, 2026

Dear Gossips,

In the United States, May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. In Canada it’s Asian Heritage Month. This is one month before June which, among other things, is Pride, or gay month. Which is when Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang host the annual Las Culturistas Culture Awards. For Bowen, then, May and June are for him.

The Las Culturistas Culture Award nominations were just announced a couple of days ago. And Canada is included because this year there’s a category called “Y’all Know I’m Canada Down Award for Y’all Know I’m Canada Down”, IYKYK. And the nominees are:

-Rachel McAdams (people forget)
-Milk in a bag
-Men of Vancouver
-Social safety net, must be nice
-Katy Perry’s boyfriend, who opted for noodles on the ground at Coachella and looks to be in his twenties!

First of all, how dare people forget about Rachel McAdams. And second, “milk in a bag” actually shows up twice, because it’s been nominated for “Classiest Way to Refer to Breast in Conversation”:

Matt and Bowen are right – why can’t we just say tits? Tits > Boobs as far as I’m concerned. Only losers say “chesticles”, and I am married to one.

The Las Culturistas Culture Awards 2026 are airing on Bravo and Peacock Wednesday 17 June. This weekend, Bowen was at the annual Gold Gala in Los Angeles, giving me a headache, because in some photos his jacket looks taupe. And in others it’s lilac.

But now let me just highlight why Bowen should read all nominations, for every award show, for all time. Actually, no, every other award show is boring AF compared to Bowen’s awards. I watched the brilliant delivery of this nomination announced at least 18 times after it was posted and I lose it every time. This is an extremely important category in honour of an extremely excellent song. For Raye, this might be better than a Grammy.
