Timmy and Kylie: Beach Signals
How were the Oscars just two weeks ago but also an eternity? Anyway, the Discourse around Timothée Chalamet and the Oscars was to do with the supposed backlash, how the Marty Supreme promotion turned personal and became a reflection on who Timmy is as a person, with those comments about ballet and opera timed perfectly just as his public unpopularity seemed to be peaking.
In the aftermath, people started making the prediction: that Timmy would cut Kylie loose, connecting her to his fall from grace. I mean, it’s only been two weeks… but it hasn’t happened yet. In fact they’re going in the opposite direction.
Kylie has been posting holiday visuals on her socials – various shots of her slammin’ body looking slammin’, presumably taken by Timothée. That’s not unusual for her, part of her career is sharing thirst traps. But there’s been a little something extra to her flaunting, the smugness is smugging. “Having the time of my life” is one example.

Now, Timmy has confirmed that he is also on a beach holiday. Clearly they are together – and what makes this even more notable is that he’s not a frequent social media user when it’s not about work. Sure, he’ll dip in for the movie promo but otherwise, he’s not sharing what he had for lunch. So this post…and the timing… and the similar location of it… is reading online like it’s intentional, a message from the tropics that their relationship has remained unchanged.
Let me just go back to Kylie’s post though, and this has nothing to do with their romance but might even be something scarier. It’s the final photo in her carousel:

I’m always going to zoom in on the book on the nightstand or a coffee table, especially when the book is recognisable to me. And indeed, when I zoomed, I was right: that’s a copy of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, released in 2017.

Netflix has the rights to the adaptation and it’s been in development for a while through a few stumbles. They sounded like they were back on track last summer but since then there’s been no movement because they were still working on the script. Evelyn Hugo’s story is a Hollywood story: a screen icon with a lot of husbands and a secret lover and, of course, the glamour, the dresses, the international travel…there’s a lot of interest here, this is a highly anticipated project.
And now the book is on Kylie’s nightstand. After she just told Vanity Fair that she wants more acting opportunities. Coincidence or conspiracy?
