Timmy on the team
We’re just six weeks from Dunesday, the box office collision between Dune: Part 3 and Avengers: Doomsday and between now and then, there’s American Thanksgiving plus there are really only two work weeks in December so the point is, the press tours will be getting pretty intense pretty soon.
For the cast of Dune 3, they not only have box office ambitions, there’s also an Oscar campaign on the line, since the film is expected to be nominated in multiple categories, including Best Picture. Which might explain why their first major media feature is with The New York Times. The joint interview, with Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy, Robert Pattinson, and Jason Momoa arrived today… and I would love to be able to fast forward 25 years and see how this photo shoot ages. Because in Timmy, Z, Flo, ATJ, and RPattz, Denis Villeneuve has cast what many believe to be future acting legends.

You will note, this is a different Timmy from the one who was on his last press tour for his last film. I was just talking about this at The Squawk last week in response to a member question about what he’ll be like during this round of promotion, basically whether or not he’ll be a twat the whole time. And my answer was – absolutely not, because he’ll be part of a team. Dune 3 is a group project and, in general, he’s much more tolerable when he’s part of a group project. You’re not seeing Marty Supreme in that video above. That’s more the energy of the kid from Little Women.
Timmy and Zendaya will likely be spending most of their time together. Z is campaigning in the Best Actress category, which means the studio will be presenting her as a co-lead in the film, a departure from the first two movies in this franchise. It makes the most sense then that the two leads will be paired. I’m curious to see which one of them, if any (but probably at least a few), from the movie will attend the Academy’s Governors Awards next Sunday. This is a major stop on the award circuit, the most major before the new year because so many Oscar voters will be there. Timmy, curiously, hasn’t been to the Governors Awards since 2018 – and he skipped the last two years but still ended up getting nominated. Zendaya has only been to the Governors Awards once – wayyyyy back in 2014, before she was a household name. When and if she returns to this event, it’ll be a whole different energy.
Until then, here’s Timmy getting bagels in LA yesterday. Do you think he voted?
What else happened today…
While we’re talking about Oscar campaigns, Gemma Chan has been busy – at festivals and screenings and doing what she can to stay in the conversation for her performance in Josephine. (Go Fug Yourself)

It was kinda funny the other day when King Charles and Camilla were caught in a downpour in Antigua and Barbuda and His Majesty had a hissy when they were late with the brolly. Another clip is going viral that isn’t that funny because Camilla looks like she’s being rude AF after kicking off her shoes and giving a distracted handshake and generally behaving “UNROYAL”. The British tabloids, naturally, are downplaying or even ignoring the moment – conveniently fixated on the US election. Think of all the times they’ve popped off at Meghan Sussex over some imagined slight, like she blinked too long or some other f-ckery, reacting to it like she hurts puppies. And now the king’s consort is out here on a proper “royal tour” with the worst manners…? You know who has manners like this? Just Andrew, the shame of the family who associates with sex traffickers. Yes, that’s what I just said: the side chick queen has this in common with the royal disgrace who’s not allowed to use his titles anymore. (Celebitchy)
Every two years, during US election coverage, the Sexiest Man Alive is always Steve Kornacki. He livestreamed for TEN HOURS yesterday. And not the kind of livestreaming where he’s lying in bed just watching Netflix. The man had to do data and talk and push buttons and swipe and wear an earpiece listening to multiple voices. His explanation for what happened at the end there isn’t really all that clear – but we can assume that at some point he just crashed. Understandable. (Entertainment Weekly)
Olivia Rodrigo, Cynthia Nixon, and Ben Marshall are doing a Christmas song. It’s a list of names that no AI could ever predict. (Autostraddle)
