Dreaded reality is upon me, and I have been perceived—Timothy Olyphant is aware that someone called his daughters “tennis daughter” and “nepo daughter”. It’s me, hi, I’m the problem, it’s me.

IN MY DEFENSE, I said at the time that it is to his credit that we don’t know every detail about his kids and I can’t tell his daughters apart on sight. And it is further to his credit—and his family’s credit at large—that he has a good sense of humor about it. A lot of celebrities get their backs up about the nepo baby discourse; the Olyphant family is, apparently, taking it in stride and adapting it into family teasing.

Part of Olyphant’s appeal has long been that he just does not take this sh-t seriously, he doesn’t get up in arms about The Discourse, nor does he ever seem particularly bothered about whatever is or isn’t being written about him in the moment. He’s too cool to care about this crap. Will Vivian Olyphant, making her acting debut in Justified: City Primeval, be as chill? We’ll find out! (Also, I maintain no one cares about nepo baby status when a person is talented. If Vivian Olyphant has the goods, the label won’t stick as prominently as it does on lesser talented celebrity kids, like Brooklyn Beckham.)

Speaking of City Primeval, the first two episodes premiere on July 18 on FX and Hulu (I believe it will stream on Star On Disney+ outside the US, but I don’t know if that applies to Canada, too, because the Disney+/Hulu stuff never seems to go by the same rules up there.) I will be writing about City Primeval here, but I will also be doing a weekly recap podcast with Dave Chen of Decoding TV. If you’re into that kind of thing, you can subscribe to Decoding TV here, or on Youtube here. I cannot wait to talk about Justified again.

Thanks to reader Esther Y for thrusting the horror of being known upon me!
