Three notable boyfriends and a husband stayed home last night while their girlfriends and wife were at the Met Gala. Let’s start with Hailey Bieber who was at the Met Gala without Justin and for those trying to rumour some sh-t about their marriage, you must not be Canadian. If you are Canadian, and in particular if you’re from Toronto, you 100% know why he skipped the event. The Leafs were playing game one in the second round of the playoffs and JB is a huge Leafs fan. He would say that staying home was the right decision because they won. That’s about all the hockey I want to talk about. 

 

There was another sport that kept another couple apart on Met Gala night. Kylie Jenner was there without Timothée Chalamet because the Knicks were playing game one in the Eastern Conference semi-finals and they too won so the theme, for them at least, is that when they don’t go the party, their team wins. I’m not being facetious about this, sports fans are superstitious. Both JB and Timmy posted on socials about what they were doing instead of fashion. 

 

As for Tom Holland, he wasn’t with Zendaya at the Met Gala but he was with her before the Met Gala, seen leaving her hotel in dark denim as soon as she was ready. E! News has the photo and there’s probably not a sports reason for his absence – he’s been saying for a while now that when they don’t have to, like when they’re not in a movie together, they try and keep their relationship as quiet as possible.

The fourth woman who went Solo to the Met Gala while her boyfriend hung back – Monica Barbaro was at the party for the first time and without Andrew Garfield. But have you seen the video of him sweetly and patiently waiting for her afterwards in his casuals and tote bag? It’s adorable and I LOVE THEM. (ELLE)

Duana mentioned Lisa’s Met Gala controversy in a post earlier and Louis Vuitton’s response has been vague. I guess they’re hoping it blows over but for me, even though there were likely a lot of people who had a hand in this unforced error, and as much as I am a fan of BLACKPINK and Lisa, at this event, it’s expected that when you’re a guest you pay attention to the details, you are intentional about how you present yourself; you ask questions, you are involved – and, actually, not just at this event but in general, for brand and image management.
