And this time it’s animated! It’s called Transformers One and it’s the origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron and their whole deal. I know children who are excited for this—the childish appeal of shape-shifting robots is eternal—and no one else. As an adult with no kids, it does not look interesting.

But whew, does it have a stacked cast. Chris Hemsworth voices the robot who becomes Optimus Prime, and Brian Tyree Henry voices the robot who becomes Megatron. Scarlett Johansson voices a lady robot called Elita-1, Keegan-Michael Key voices Bumblebee, Steve Buscemi voices Starscream, and Jon Hamm and Laurence Fishburne voice the important leader-bots. Hemsworth and ScarJo are already richer than god, so I don’t care about their probably enormous payday for this, but I am always here for Brian Tyree Henry getting paid. Be in a Godzilla movie, voice a Transformer, secure that bag. I am rooting for him to turn into one of those actors who makes incredibly interesting choices the less he’s working for the next paycheck.

Also, Brian Tyree Henry showed up to the premiere with a Megatron quote scrawled across the back of a rad leather jacket, so he definitely understood the assignment. All hail the new Megatron.

Speaking of fashion, Chris Hemsworth did not exert himself, doing his usual black-on-black, no-tie, open-collar thing, but when you look like him, it’s not like you have to try. At least everything was pressed.

As for ScarJo, I quite like this red dress on her. She’s VERY hit or miss on the red carpet—more miss than hit, really—but this is a solid look. Great color, and I like the off-the-shoulder neckline, though the hem probably could have been shortened and worked even better. The full length seems awkward because the skirt isn’t really doing anything down there. Imagine this as a pencil-length hem and it’s immediately better. Also, there’s something weird happening around her bust, something is pulling strangely and making a really obvious line. Not sure what that’s about, but this is still one of ScarJo’s better premiere looks.
