Intro for July 9, 2024
Dear Gossips,
It’s Tuesday. And right now, for a certain corner of the internet, Tuesdays are for Manny Jacinto. You know exactly what I mean if you’ve been watching The Acolyte. New episodes drop Tuesdays at 9pm ET/6pm PT. And for the last two weeks especially, social media has been horny as f-ck for Manny.
He went super viral after episode five, and the big reveal, and that hair, and that body, and THAT FACE. And then there was this clip that everyone was panting over from last week with the described audio turned on – literally even the A.I. voiceover seemed Turned On.
OK you gotta watch this episode of The Acolyte with Disney+’s audio description pic.twitter.com/xNmwfF5kvN

That’s Manny Jacinto, everyone. Bringing the gush in both humans and computers. We are all crushing hard on this man:
if Manny Jacinto looked at me like that whilst saying the word “desire” I would simply dissolve into atoms & become one with the force https://t.co/yGnKcaUhGT

And it’s about time! He was the only actor showrunner Leslye Headland wanted for the role. And while, sure, he’s had some success with The Good Place and some of his other projects, being the Big Bad in a Star Wars series has elevated him to another level. What Star Wars has also done with this series, which I so appreciate, is cast two Asian men in leading roles with both Manny and Lee Jung-jae. Their fight in episode five brought tears to my eyes thinking about childhood me back in the day, watching Star Wars in the movie theatre, and trying to imagine the moment.
Now can someone, please, cast Manny as the romantic lead in a rom-com? He’s reportedly Lindsay Lohan’s love interest in Freaky Friday 2, now in production, but that’s not a rom-com. A proper rom-com, let’s make this happen.
Yours in gossip,
Lainey
