So many year end red carpets!
The Fashion Awards took place in London last night with a pretty notable guest list. Among the attendees – two Oscar winners, Gwyneth Paltrow and Anne Hathaway, both of them present for the same reason: to honour Valentino Garavani who won the Outstanding Achievement Award. Mr Valentino is now 91 years old and doesn’t step out in public anymore.
Gwyneth and Annie have long been Valentino favourites. Here they are with Mr Valentino back in 2009. It’s almost the only time these two interact.
They both wore Valentino at their weddings (in G’s case it was her second marriage, to Brad Falchuk who was with G at the event last night). G’s relationship with Valentino goes back at least 25 years, if not more. She was the one who presented the award to his partner Giancarlo Giammetti last night and talked about their friendship recalling that:
“…he would always ask me about Hollywood, especially the men I dated; he never really approved of anyone until he met my husband Brad Falchuk. And he hated that I didn’t like to wear red. So tonight, I wear red for Mr. Valentino.”
The red dress she’s wearing is from the 1965 haute couture collection, it’s gorgeous on her. But Annie’s the showstopper on this night.
Mr Valentino once said of Annie that “she’s like my daughter” so it’s understandable why she was there, and why this exquisite off-white spaghetti dress, also from the archives, was chosen for her.
She looks incredible.
As for G and Annie, do you think Rebekah Neumann came up? Annie played Rebekah in WeCrashed and if you’ve seen it, or if you’ve read about those two grifters, Adam and Rebekah Neumann, you know why I’m wondering about this. Rebekah who allegedly ran her business by “astrological intuition”, is Gwyneth’s first cousin. She definitely would have bought a jade vagina egg.
