Viola Davis and Helen Mirren hadn’t even started reading the teleprompter yet and Twitter was already writing their buddy cop comedy. Viola and Helen together is a pairing I didn’t expect but in hindsight, it’s perfect. They’re both legends. They both can give a singular look or an eye-roll worthy of a Golden Globe and they nailed this bit presenting Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture.

WE ARE NOT WORTHY! @violadavis and Dame Helen Mirren take the #GoldenGlobes stage to present Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture! pic.twitter.com/CFOXf2WdUS— Golden Globe Awards (@goldenglobes) January 8, 2018

It’s not even that funny but I was laughing the whole way through. They made all of the other presenters look amateur, stale and awkward in comparison.

Can Twitter make this movie happen like the Lupita/Rihanna/Issa/Ava one? There doesn’t even need to be a plot. Just put a camera on Viola Davis and Helen Mirren at a bar and I’m sold. Actually, give me the behind-the-scenes footage of before and after this picture was taken and I’ll turn it into a riveting Netflix doc.

As into Helen and Viola I am, we need to talk about Viola Davis and no one else for a second. Look. At. Auntie. Viola. SHINE. I dramatically spat my juice back into my glass and on myself when I first saw Viola Davis on my screen. She looked unreal. Like, how can an actual living human being look this flawless? After I cleaned up the drink I spat on myself, I was already tearing up at Viola’s natural hair gleaming in the sunlight when she came through with this beautiful message to sexual assault victims.

I’ll leave you with my favourite tweet of the night…

I want Viola Davis to put her finger under my chin and lift my head up and give me a speech about how I can do anything I want in life— bolu babalola. (@BeeBabs) February 27, 2017

… and this GIF, which I will watch after all of my major life highlights from now until forever so it’s like Auntie Viola is cheering me on every step of the way.
