Last year was up and down for Sydney Sweeney. Started off great, ended her engagement, then controversy in the summer, with a string of flops at the box office, but then a rebound at the end of the year with The Housemaid which did very good business during the holidays.

And just today it was confirmed that the sequel has been greenlit so in show business terms, with short memories, this is definitely a solid rebound. She’s no longer, really, in contention for award season but she’s starting the year in a good position with a movie that’s currently still playing and considered successful enough to get the go-ahead for a part two this quickly.

Also she’s one of 16 cover stars in W Magazine’s Best Performances issue.

Looking ahead, the next major release for Sydney is season three of Euphoria, coming in April. That’s likely the next press tour for her and it’ll be interesting to see what the reaction will be to both her appearances and also to her character, Cassie, already one of the series’ most controversial and apparently even more “unhinged” with the fast-forward. Word is Cassie is now on OnlyFans. I’m sure social media will be totally normal about this during the broadcast period for the season.

Around the same time, Sydney could also be involved in some promotion for The Devil Wears Prada 2 since she has a cameo in the movie. Obviously most of the press for that movie will be centered around the main cast, Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, but it’s definitely a boost for Sydney and part of the turnaround that she’s part of one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year.

Victoria Monet went monochrome for the Lakers Game and I get it, when you’re sitting courtside, you want to make it an event, but I would be so self-conscious about the angle of that hat and whether or not it will move around during the game when you’re turning your head back and forth. One of the first nail trends of the year is polka dots but it really depends on the colour combination, right? I feel like I would like it for a day and then I’d hate looking at the dots on my nails. (Refinery 29)

The dinner or snack plate at the Critics Choice Awards went viral and my thoughts on this are that I hate grapes, and there are TWO bunches of grapes on this plate so I’m immediately a hater. (Celebitchy)

Kit Connor and Joseph Quinn went on vacation together and they’re wearing shorts together on a boat and it’s a happy new year for the gays. This is the kind of celebrity yacht life we can toast. (Out)
