Emmy nominees at Thom Browne
Designer Thom Browne, maker of the skirts all the coolest men wear on red carpets, opened two boutiques in New York this week, and he drew a particularly noteworthy crowd full of recent Emmy nominees.
Walton Goggins, Tramell Tillman, and Cristin Milioti were all just nominated for Emmys, and they all turned up for Thom. Goggins, as has been his wont, is having more fun than anyone.

Walton Goggins and Tramell Tillman both wore Thom Browne to the Met Gala earlier this summer, and their appearance at Browne’s store opening makes me wonder if they’ll wear his designs to the Emmys, too. The tailoring on a Thom Browne suit is always immaculate, so I hope so.
Cristin Milioti, meanwhile, looks exceptionally cool and very Sofia Falcone-coded in this ensemble:

The store opening also drew Emmy winner Christine Baranski—crazy that she hasn’t won more recently than the 90s—comedian Patti Harrison, and filmmaker Celine Song. I like her striped suit a lot.

Something I’ve heard about Thom Browne is that everyone wears his designs exactly as presented, no one is riffing with Thom Browne. It tracks, people who wear Browne are always dressed top to tail in his designs, it’s never just a jacket or a skirt, it’s the full suit, with shoes and accessories picked, if not designed, by Browne (one of his new stores is dedicated to accessories).
This makes me think about yesterday’s photos of Timothy Olyphant, who wore Browne for his appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers (dependably chaotic). But he was photographed walking around New York with the sweater casually slung over his shoulder. Now, this makes sense given the heat this summer, but also…you don’t disrupt Thom Browne’s Look. That’s his whole deal. It's a cohesive presentation, meant to be viewed as the designer intended. Is this why Timothy Olyphant didn’t go to the party? He broke Thom Browne’s cardinal rule!
