Is Robert Pattinson sexy?

PEOPLE Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive 2025 will be announced on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon tonight. I’ve been trying to predict the Sexiest Man Alive since the very early days of this site and my annual prediction post was just posted this morning at The Squawk. There are many things to take into consideration when playing this game. It’s not just about personal preference, it’s about the most broad choice to make for the audience, and also which side of the audience to prioritise. 

This year there’s a new detail about the magazine to keep in mind where predictions are considered. Because PEOPLE has a new editor-in-chief: the 2025 Sexiest Man Alive will be the first during the tenure of Charlotte Triggs and it’s the 40th anniversary of the magazine’s most popular feature. I imagine they’ll want to make it more exciting than John Krasinski, no shade. (Maybe a little.) 

Also, Charlotte is presumably PEOPLE’s first millennial EIC. How will her age and her taste inform the selection? I ask this because, well, is it possible that Charlotte spent her early adulthood at the start of her career as a TwiHard? What are the chances that Robert Pattinson is the Sexiest Man Alive? 

Die, My Love opens on Friday. Robert was at the NY premiere last night with Suki Waterhouse. Agreeing to be the Sexiest Man Alive might not be a bad idea to promote it. And it’s not like he isn’t known for being silly during a press tour, it just depends on whether or not the SMA brand of silly is his flavour. Ten years ago it would have been impossible but now that he’s established his range as an actor, he might not be as reluctant to take on the SMA title. 

As for the fact that he’s not American and the Sexiest Man Alive is almost always American and likely would be on such a big anniversary – I feel like the fact that Robert Pattinson would be a huge GET outweighs the nationality, in this specific case. Plus, the internet would implode, and that’s exactly what the magazine would want.

Now let’s talk about Jennifer Lawrence who is campaigning for another Oscar nomination for her performance in this movie. Jessie Buckley seems to be the lock to make it to the final five, with Cynthia Erivo behind her, but the remaining three spots look pretty open. We’ll have to see if JLaw can build enough momentum over the next few weeks to put herself in a better position because at the moment she’s looking like she’s maybe in sixth or seventh. 

JLaw is wearing Dior, a spectacular black dress by new creative director Jonathan Anderson. She’s been an ambassador for a long time but there is so much more interest in her red carpet style now that Jonathan is in charge.

A member of our Squawk community today noted that JLaw looks like a Hadid here. I can see it. Gigi in the face and SO Bella with the hair. It’s the side part. I associate Bella with straight hair and a side part and light eyes and that’s what Jennifer is serving here.
