Katy Perry: Exes and Trudeaus
Come on. That was a good pun, right? I suck at puns, it’s like a 16-year comet cycle when I can come up with one. And it works with Katy Perry’s most recent Instagram post.
It’s a much better start to 2026 for Katy than it was a year ago. Her album wasn’t doing all that great, she was about to announce the tour, and kick off the press for the silly space launch and there was all kinds of speculation that her relationship was falling apart.
It turned around in the summer though – and not just for her but for gossip, since Katy and Justin Trudeau were one of the highlights of the celebrity summer of love, which seemed random at first and then made all the sense in the cornfield because these two could not be more cringingly perfect for each other, so perfect that it seems that they’ve been together a lot longer than half a year, the kind of couple you can’t imagine not being a couple now that you know of their existence.
Katy and JT had already hard-launched and checked off all the official boxes before Christmas. On the yacht, on the gram, from Montreal to LA to Paris to Tokyo, even a diplomatic visit. This was the first holiday season and presumably it went well because the photo dump includes not only inclusion of her ex, Orlando Bloom, but also Justin – a picture of him in the water and then of the two of them as she kisses his neck.

I’m happy for them, and I’m happy for us. For them because they both needed the rebound, personally and professionally. Katy bouncing from Orlando Bloom to the most eligible former world leader is a flex. That’s two in a row for Orlando, by the way. His ex before Katy, Miranda Kerr, moved onto a billionaire.
Back to Katy and JT and what future gifts they might have for gossip in 2026 – if there’s a date we can circle in speculation on the calendar, it’s the first Monday in May. The Met Gala. She’s been a regular but it’s now at least three years since she’s attended, setting her up for a comeback with a new plus one. I mean, it’s not like he would say no.
