Sex and the City reboot And Just Like That… is still somehow going. Who watches this? Seriously, I’m curious. If you watch And Just Like That…, I’d love to hear from you. Why? What’s the appeal? I get the appeal of Sex and the City, it fed into a certain dream of New York City and a time and a place—pre-9/11—that felt like a fantasy even as it was happening in real time. But what’s the appeal of And Just Like That…? I’m asking for real-real. I want to understand.

The third—third?!—season debuts tonight, and Sarah Jessica Parker is in Paris for the premiere. (This is why Matthew Broderick went with Kenneth Lonergan to the Phoenician Scheme premiere.) She was joined by series creator Michael Patrick King and co-stars Cynthia Nixon, Kristen Davis, Nicole Ari Parker, and Sarita Choudhury. Now, Sarita Choudhury I DO understand. She is Le Sex. Have you seen Mississippi Masala? That movie is HOT. Sarita is hot in it. Denzel Washington it hot in it. Mira Nair was on something with that film. A lot of early Nineties films haven’t aged well, even some considered “classics”. Not Mississippi Masala. That movie has aged like fine wine, as have Sarita and Denzel. Everything about that movie is still hot.

Anyway, please explain the appeal of And Just Like That… to me, if no one does I will just assume it’s the clothes.

What else happened today…

Carey Mulligan tried milkmaid chic at the premiere of The Ballad of Wallis Island. She looks a little uncertain about it. (Go Fug Yourself)

Surprise, one of the richest men in the world who’s already paid out an enormous divorce settlement expects his new bride to sign an “ironclad” prenup. Quelle shock. Really, though, everyone should get a prenup! Even if you’re broke! It’s the first piece of estate planning you’ll do as a couple, it’s important, and it forces you to talk about uncomfortable things, like money and death, which is just the reality check some couples need before tying the knot. Get a prenup! (Celebitchy)

Where in the world is January Jones? (Pajiba)

Jadie Stillwell goes deep on the later films of Tom Cruise, his dedication to stunts, the strange, often uncomfortable, cross-section of Tom Cruise and technology, and whether or not “Tom Cruise” is even real. He’s an odd duck celebrity, one of the last Movie Stars, a performer with unsettling allegations against him (by way of an alleged human rights-abusing cult), and he provokes deep thinking and interesting arguments in others. It’s always worth reading other people’s thoughts about Tom Cruise. What we think of him says a lot about us. (Bright Wall/Dark Room)
