Cardi B officially won in court yesterday when a jury took less than an hour to determine, unanimously, that she did not assault the security guard accusing her of scratching her face and trying to punch her. 

 

But Cardi had already won in the court of public opinion when her testimony went viral last week. It wasn’t just that Cardi was hilarious and charming, it was obvious that there was no evidence that was presented that indicated, at all, in the slightest, that Cardi did what she is alleged to have done. In fact, the evidence put the accuser on blast and also, her lawyer seemed like a joke. 

 

So the latest celebrity legal miniseries is done – but not before the final scene, featuring Cardi at the microphone, doing what Cardi does best: entertain…while nailing some pretty serious points. I know this is three minutes but if you haven’t already, I promise you it’s worth every second. 

 

This is Cardi reminding people what a pain in the ass it is for her to have to deal with frivolous lawsuits. Sure, she’s a wealthy celebrity and she has help, but she still has children to care for, a job to do, bills to pay, people to support. And yet she took this opportunity to issue a warning to those who might try it next, while also pleading with her fans to leave the accuser alone and move on. Then she finished it off in Spanish and some wig talk, LOOOOOL. 

There’s a tweet underneath that video that perfectly articulates one of the reasons why Cardi is so appealing.

It’s true. The press conference Cardi and witness stand Cardi and Instagram live Cardi and celebrity interview Cardi are all the same Cardi. She remains consistently who she is no matter the setting. Sometimes that gets her in trouble. Sometimes that gets her a million views. But if one of the buzz words for this generation is “authenticity”, who at this level of fame is more authentic than Cardi B?
