The two angels are Lucy Liu and Cameron Diaz and I think that’s self-explanatory. The third angel in this equation of course would be Drew Barrymore. And at some point, since both Lucy and Cam are promoting films right now, and Drew has her own talk show…

Someone somewhere has to have already thought about this, right? It’s happened already, Lucy and Cam were guests, but this was during COVID and they all had to sit quite far apart. Like not the huggy feely couch situation that Drew is now known for. This is what we need to see – all three of them piling on top of each other like it’s a sleepover on afternoon television.

Anyway, while we wait for that to happen, let’s start with Lucy in New York last night at the Presence premiere. Presence is a Steven Soderbergh film, about a haunted house, and normally I don’t f-ck with a scary movie but I was assigned to it at TIFF and it meant interviewing Lucy who is smart and sharp and lovely and really, really great in this film because this is not a typical role for her. She’s a working a mother, ambitious professional, and she is … compromised. Definitely not sweet, even unlikable. And she leaned all the way in.

That’s not the only discovery in Presence though. The breakout star of the film is Callina Liang, from Vancouver, BC!, who plays Lucy’s daughter. Callina is heartbreakingly good in this movie, so good that we should see a lot more of her. And she is wearing the sh-t out of this white dress.

Also in white, over in London, it’s Cammie D who I nearly cried over when I posted about her yesterday and I was encouraged to hear that many of you felt the same. We all missed her so much! And she continues to promote Back in Action – look at her, with those signature blonde waves, and that big smile….

Back in Action is now available to stream on Netflix which means I will be streaming it on Netflix as soon as possible. Does it matter if the movie is sh-t? No. I’m watching for her, I’m watching because I’ve missed her expressive face, how she can go from goofy to sweet in a split second, how she can make you laugh with the twist of her nose – I’m watching to celebrate the return of Cameron Diaz because she has said she might disappear again in a minute. I totally believe her.

And finally, Timothée Chalamet continues his European press tour for A Complete Unknown, now in Rome, and in my favourite outfit of his so far for this movie: brown corduroy. It works for the film, the era, the subject, and of course it works on him.
