Hugh Jackman’s residency at Radio City Music Hall began on Friday night. Lainey previously wondered if Sutton Foster would show up to support him, and the answer is yes.
She was there, as was Ryan Reynolds, who was featured in a bit during the show.
But back to Sutton, because that’s the tea everyone is sipping. The hard launch was just a couple weeks ago, and now we’ve moved onto the “officially official” stage, which is doing regular couple stuff like showing up for each other enough that we get bored of it. I don’t think anyone’s bored yet, though, mainly because Hugh’s divorce might be messier than anticipated. The source is the Daily Mail, so grains, salt, yadda yadda, but apparently, Hugh and Deborra-Lee Furness haven’t even filed yet, despite announcing their split back in the fall of 2023.
This holdup is apparently money. When they got together, Furness was a star in Australia, and Jackman was a nobody. Now, though, he’s one of the biggest movie stars in the world, and he’s made an enormous, probably nine-figure fortune. And according to the Daily Mail, there’s no pre-nup. So, either they’re going to have a super messy, drawn out divorce fighting over money, or they’re working it out beforehand and they’ll be done with it all at once when they do file. The gossip side of me is chanting “mess”, but the humane side of me hopes they’re getting their ducks in a row before filing.
Hugh’s Broadway residency lasts through October. Will we have time to get bored of him and Sutton being a New York couple? Or will this divorce drama keep them a front-page pair?
