The final trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2 was released yesterday following Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway’s appearance in Japan to promote the film. This time we’re getting a few more details about what the movie is about.

It was previously thought that Miranda Priestley would be dealing with changes in the magazine industry, how Runway (Vogue) could stay relevant in the digital era. That may still be the case but this preview also reveals that there’s some kind of scandal that precipitates Andy’s – or “Ondraya’s” – reappearance in Miranda’s life; evidently Miranda is getting dragged online. And of course there are many, many fan service moments: cutting remarks by Miranda, a moment between Andy and Nigel in the closet, and one-liners from Emily. Plus… looks, so many looks. “A sequel… for spring? Groundbreaking.”

The song you’re hearing there is the new collaboration between Lady Gaga and Doechii, “Runway”, which continues the revival of the movie soundtrack, hopefully. We are entering the season of the Song of the Summer sweepstakes. Every film now wants to trend on TikTok – and this one is providing a piece of music for people to do whatever trend it is that will inevitably pop up when The Devil Wears Prada 2 comes out. Gaga is also expected to make a cameo in the movie.

The trailer for Devil 2 was the most-viewed comedy trailer in 15 years and the most-viewed trailer for 2025 overall. That gave us an early indication of the anticipation for this film. Advance ticket sales have been very promising, which is why right now, early box office projections are bullish - $55 million on the low end, and as high as $80+ million should it be a really good weekend. I’ve actually seen some predicting as high as $100 million although it’s also a movie that has the potential for staying power beyond that first frame; like those who want to see it might wait for the second weekend and/or people might want to see it again on the second weekend. They’re aiming for the Barbie and Wicked audience – and the Barbie and Wicked audience, as we have seen, will show up when it’s being served.
