As Maria mentioned yesterday in Smutty Social Media, Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Tatum are teaming up for something that unfortunately does not involve Channing dancing with Beyoncé dressed as Beyoncé but I’m still really excited about it.

The married couple will produce and star in a new six-episode dance competition series by NBC. In case you haven’t seen the original Step Up over ten times like I have, you may have forgotten that Jenna and Channing met on set of that film.
Step Up is a cinematic masterpiece. If you disagree with me, we can’t be friends. The dancing is impeccable. The story is adorable. Channing and Jenna’s chemistry is palpable. The movie will celebrate its 10-year anniversary this year. It spawned the best dance movie franchise of all time. Before you yell at me, I can’t actually think of another dance movie franchise right now so by default, Step Up is the best. Dirty Dancing doesn’t count. Neither does Footloose.

I’ve seen all of the Step Up movies multiple times, including Step Up 2 Da Streets, Step Up 3D, Step Up 4 Eva (it was actually called Step Up Revolution but I refuse to accept that) and Step Up: All In. They are all amazing. Case in point: the OG Step Up’s final dance scene.

Goddamn, Channing Tatum has never been hotter than he was in 2006. I digress.
According to THR, The Tatums’ new project is going to be a “fresh take on the dance competition genre” and Jenna will act as a judge and mentor on the show. I have seen every season of The Voice and almost every season of So You Think You Can Dance. This is basically my dream show. Channing will appear on the series but he will not be a judge.

Since this show was ripped from my brain, I have some suggestions for celebs to round out the judging panel.

1. Paula Abdul. We all know Paula is well acquainted with the competition reality show genre and she’s always been a better dancer than singer if we’re being honest here. Also, Jenna Dewan Tatum pulled off a spot-on Paula impersonation during Lip Sync Battle featuring a surprise appearance by Paula herself.

2. Janet Jackson. There is no one more qualified to judge dancers than Miss Jackson. Plus, Jenna started her career as a backup dancer for Janet. How much would you love to see Janet’s personality shine in a format like this?

3. Justin Timberlake. I realize I just suggested Justin and Janet for the same panel. That might not be the best idea but here’s some gossip nostalgia: Remember when Jenna Dewan Tatum was rumoured to be the first woman Justin dated after he broke up with Britney? So, if for nothing else than the gossip, these judges would be brilliant together. (Lainey: As IFFFFFF he would ever say yes to being a judge on a show someone else created where Channing Tatum would be his BOSS. HAHAHAHA.)

Here’s hoping Jenna and Channing recreate this scene at some point during the show’s run. And I’m still crossing my fingers for a Beyoncé cameo.
