You see the difference when she’s styled editorially? I LOVE how they’ve dressed her for this. Even though they’re good girl colours and it’s not a total departure from her palate, the vibe is so fresh and funky and she looks great with her hair punked up like this.

All of it is of course in service of the release of the new album. Her pop album. No more country. I have a few friends who work in country, based in Nashville. And their position is that she’s never been true country. That country was just a gateway to pop. That pop is always where she’s wanted to live. But you can’t really say it that way, can you? It all has to be about evolution of art:

"This time around I've chosen the brave and bold way of going about things. Because with this album I've completely changed the sound of everything I've done until now. So it's interesting to not be afraid of that. You know, I don't want to hurt people's feelings, I don't want to betray Nashville, whatever, but essentially it comes down to challenging yourself as an artist."

When did pop become brave? Some rock artists are arguing that rock is now brave…because there’s so little of it really featured now. If that came out of Dave Grohl’s mouth, maybe I would see the argument.

As for Taylor’s love life, she claims there isn’t one because no dude wants to deal with the reality of her life:

"Dating or finding someone is the last thing on my mind, because I can't picture how it could work with the way my life is. I don't know how a guy is supposed to walk next to his girlfriend when there are 20 men with cameras, and he can't protect his girlfriend because that's the life she chose. I just don't see how it could work, so I don't think about it, and I kind of run from it when it presents itself. ‘Cause I don't think any guy really… They think that they would want to get to know me, and maybe date me, but I don't think they want what comes with it."

Oh, hi Jake Gyllenhaal. Is that you?

“That’s the life she chose.” I’ll give her credit here for not bitching about the life she chose. But if dating isn’t what she’s into, is it more of a hit it one time and quit it thing?
