The Debt premiered in London tonight. Dame Helen Mirren and Jessica Chastain walked the carpet. That Dame is such a babe, isn’t she? Jacek says it to me all the time: “Can you please look like her when you’re that age?” Oh I want to. I really, really want to.

The Dame is 66. She looks it. She doesn’t look 46. Which...I don’t know why that’s not considered a compliment. She is BEAUTIFUL. And she’s 66. And isn’t pretending to not be 66. Have I just insulted her? It’s not an insult.

As for Chastain - you see what she’s doing there with her shoulders? Hands on hips, shoulders cocked forward? That’s the trick. Lea Michele works the sh-t out of that trick. It’s to eliminate, or reduce, any sign of back of the arm fat. Totally ridiculous for most of them, if not all of them, because, obviously, they have no back of the arm fat, but in their minds, your arms can never look too thin. Even Iman does it. They all do it.

I was at a party last week and my colleague, Traci Melchor - here’s her Twitter  - who is HILARIOUS and has had the technique down for years, offered a little mini-demonstration up there on the roof of the TIFF Lightbox. It’s a great comedic bit, but all true: turn your feet in, knock your knees together, use your hand like it’s a belt to give the illusion of a smaller waist, hunch forward slightly, rotate your shoulders towards your chest, and stick out your chin. Very uncomfortable. You feel ridiculous. But we had a photographer there. And the before and after shots, they don’t lie.
