A lot of celebrities showed up at Joel Silver’s Memorial Day party yesterday in Malibu. Among them Tom Cruise, his son Connor, Katie Holmes, and Little Sci. As you can see, Tom is super fond of his funky fedora these days. Doesn’t go out without it. Last week I saw pictures of him leaving a Rock of Ages rehearsal, he was wearing it. Then again out for dinner in Miami, he was wearing it. Now at the beach over the long weekend, he’s all over it. Must make him feel “cool” and “hip”.

While Tom mingled with the likes of Barbra Streisand and Sylvester Stallone and Brian Grazer inside, Katie spent some time by the water with Suri. Already everyone’s making a big ass deal of the fact that she likes to wear lifts like her dad. Is this really something to hang a “she’s a bad mother!!!” accusation on? For real?

More interesting...

Gwen Stefani, Gavin Rossdale, and their boys Kingston and Zuma – SO cute! – were also there. But no shots of the kids playing together. Around the same age, non? Is that weird? What’s the playing together at a party protocol? I just assume that all children gravitate towards each other, or their parents force them to anyway, and eventually they end up running around screaming and having a great time.

Hi Gwen, Hi Katie, Hi Suri, Hi Boys, look at those jumbo water toys down on the beach, let’s all go play together – yay!!!!

No? Doesn’t happen like that?

Maybe they were there at different times.

As for Connor – he’s been acting a while, has a role in the upcoming Red Dawn, and now he’s apparently on the 1s and 2s ... have you heard? DJ C-Squared has been spinning at private parties, most recently at the Artists Against Drugs art show in LA last week. Very handsome boy. Am I crazy or does he look like his father?

Speaking of his father, and DJing, and music and dancing, would it be a good time to replay one of my all time favourite Tom Cruise videos?

Remember when he revved up the Try on BET?

OMG. This keeps making my life. I never noticed Michelle Monaghan’s face! If you’ve never, it’ll be the best thing you’ve ever seen.
