IN TOUCH reports in their new issue that Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt have ended their relationship. Specifically the magazine claims that she cut him loose even before he went to rehab because she was tired of waiting for him to commit to her. Hamm’s rep immediately issued a denial:

"The story that appeared in this week's edition of In Touch magazine is not true. The only gentleman Jennifer visited regularly in Connecticut was Jon, while he was in rehab. They continue to ask for the public's understanding and sensitivity during this challenging time."

I don’t understand the part about “the only gentleman” but I’m assuming that the IN TOUCH story involved speculation about Jennifer seeing someone else. There are those though who believe that since his publicist’s statement did not clearly and emphatically emphasise that Jon and Jennifer are still together and have not broken up it means that they are probably broken up.

She’s taken so much sh-t from him for so long though. Who’d blame her if she really did decide to bail? Thing is, I’m not convinced she would now that he’s trying to get sober after decades of alcohol abuse. Evidently he was hitting it hard way back in university too. STAR has uncovered documents dating back to 1990 when Jon was allegedly arrested for participating in a demented hazing ritual as a member of a fraternity. The details are disturbing. You can read about it here. And even though it happened over 25 years ago, when he was just 19 or 20 years old, it does give you some insight into the kind of wild and unchecked lifestyle he’d been living and how long he’d been living it for.

That said, the timing is interesting. From a public relations perspective, imagine how differently this story would have played out if it hadn’t been revealed first that he was in treatment for addiction. Somehow he got ahead of this scandal. Coincidence or conspiracy?
