Rafael Nadal Gossip
Rafael Nadal gossip, latest news, photos, and video.
The US Open starts on Monday, which is why the tour’s top players have been in New York this week. They’re preparing and practising but they’re also endorsing. Nike set up a big photo shoot the other day with several of the game’s major players and yesterday it was Rafael Nadal front and centre for Tommy Hilfiger. Read Full Intro
Paris. Roland Garros. Where Rafa has ruled for a decade. Rafa is King. Was king? No one knows yet if that moment will become THE moment, the kind of moment when everything changes. And he’s certainly not talking like he wants it to become that particular moment. But it’s hard not to think that way. So this is where I’m starting today because I would have gotten yelled at for ending the day with it yesterday, his birthday.
Rafa was gracious afterwards. He’s been kicking Novak’s ass for almost 10 years on red clay. Following Novak’s convincing victory though, he declared that his opponent is “probably in the best moment of his career”. So that’s what Andy Murray’s dealing with tomorrow. A note on Andy Murray though – and something to read for everyone, not just those of you who follow tennis.
Andy is the first superstar male athlete to work with a female coach, Amelie Mauresmo. He has endured ridicule for it. He has been criticised for it. He has had to defend it. Click here to read about his partnership with Mauresmo…and what a Mauresmo-Murray championship would mean.
Yours in gossip,
Rafael Nadal and girlfriend Xisca Perello were at a wedding this weekend in Spain. Cuuuuuute! I love him! I love them! Rafa is enjoying some down time before he prepares for the final slam of the season, the US Open. Mostly they care about the title, but he and Novak Djokovic are #2 and #1 on the tour and the tournament will likely also determine who’s on top to end 2014. Full Story
This one is for my cousin Cat who loves Rafael Nadal. When she was pregnant with her second son last year I kept telling her to call him Rafa. In the end she went with something better to go with her first son Sasha. Marcel! How cute is that? Sasha and Marcel! Anyway, Cat's Rafa. Full Story

8 times Rafa... The only man to win the same major 8 times... RAFA! But it was a foregone conclusion after Friday’s match against Novak Djokovic, right? I was watching -- and screaming -- at work. As soon as he hit that shot between the legs, everyone had to know it was over. Rafa was destined. Full Story
It’s been a rough several months for Rafael Nadal. There was that knee injury. And then a stomach virus that kept him from the Australian Open where, SPOILER ALERT, Maria Sharapova dominated Venus Williams today and when I first read the headline I thought it said Serena and I almost tripped. Rafael Nadal was named Man of the Year by Spanish Vanity Fair. There was an event the other night in Madrid to celebrate him. He wore a tux and looked very handsome and as relaxed as he could be on such a formal occasion. Yesterday Rafa was not relaxed. Yesterday Rafa watched the Champions League first round between Real Madrid and Manchester City and, well, he was euphoric at the end, certainly, but during the game Rafa was as intense as he gets for his own matches. On clay. This is for my cousin Cat who loves Rafa so much, with a lot of stress, and probably didn’t sleep well last night thinking about this morning. It turns out the rain delay helped him. He came out hard today, finishing off Novak Djokovic in the fourth set, despite being down a break when they suspended the match yesterday. Full Story

I have been up for way too long. Why is Australia so far away? Was watching the Murray-Djokovic semi-final at the Australian open, a sick 5 setter that resulted, ultimately, in a Novak win just about an hour ago. And he will meet Rafael Nadal who defeated Roger Federer yesterday. Well that’s not a bad first Slam final of the year, non? You know me - I am for Rafa, always. Full Story
