There have been reports that Chris Rock is under a lot of pressure to maybe not host the Oscars this year because of the lack of diversity in the nominations. There are other reports that there’s no way he’s not hosting and that he’s working on a scathing monologue. Which is what Ricky Gervais wants him to do. Full Story

David Bowie’s birthday was on Friday which is also when he released his final album, Blackstar. But isn’t that the most elegant exit? A video for the song Lazarus is now available with the opening lyrics, “Look up here, I’m in heaven”. According to those close to him, this is how he planned it for his fans, for the world, how he wanted to say goodbye. Full Story

The last time Ricky Gervais hosted the Golden Globes, Harvey Weinstein joked afterwards (maybe, who can be sure, really?) that he would have him killed. But last night, it was Harvey who was throwing his head back in a close-up, laughing at this joke: “One Hollywood publication said that me hosting would mean that some film star would stay away for fear of being made fun of. Full Story

Dear Gossips,

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is starting to announce its presenters list for the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday. The first names released yesterday were Olivia Wilde and … Mel Gibson. The host of this year’s Globes is, once again, Ricky Gervais.  Read Full Intro

I don’t understand Ricky Gervais’s decision making. He took so much heat last year (and it was awesome) for givin’er on Hollywood and (some of) the hypocrites in that room. No, no, not the photos of him last night at the NYC premiere of The Rum Diary, God no. The fact that Johnny’s looking a little portly these days is reminding me how f-cking old I am. I do however love him opposite Ricky Gervais. Gervais is producing a new comedy series called Life’s Too Short starring Warwick Davis (Professor Flitwick!) who plays like the head of CAA but only representing little people. Full Story
