It’s been just over a month since Chrissy Teigen posted her guide to cancellation on Instagram (which I wrote about here) and since then, she’s announced a new cookbook, traveled for summer vacation, and attended President Obama’s birthday party. Pretty cushy as far as cancellations go. And the coverage of her is slowly turning back to what it was (mainly gushing). Another sure sign that “she’s back” is the interactions on her Instagram. Fellow celebs are back to liking and commenting and Amy Schumer did a jokey tribute video to her stair walk (it looks like Amy is staying in the house John and Chrissy stayed in on Martha’s Vineyard, hence the joke). So while she might still feel cancelled, the tangible consequences to her cancellation are pretty much done. And she will be back on Twitter again, maybe after Labour Day – if she can hold out.

Last year, W Magazine put binge-watching, quarantine, and social distancing into its photo shoot with the Who’s Watching Who? series, which features celebrities dressed up as a character from a show they love. This is my favourite of the bunch: Aidy Bryant as Adriana from The Sopranos. Excellent choice.

I’m only halfway through The White Lotus finale and am not trying that hard to avoid spoilers because spoilers don’t ruin things for me. This next idea isn’t a spoiler but a suggestion: I saw a tweet (that I can’t find now, apologies to that person) that said something like “Cameron Diaz for season 2 of The White Lotus” and, um, yes. Right? I think, like Winona Ryder, she will work again when the project fits. I’m not trying to tell Mike White how to do his job, but Cameron Diaz as a mean wellness mommy would be so good. (This interview with Mike, the creator of the show, is my post-finale read – it does have a spoiler alert so beware.)

Girls Trip was on the other night and it got me thinking of Regina Hall and how she should be an A-list movie star. She crackles on screen, can do comedy and drama, and is stunning. She should be on the same level (pay, job offers) as Emily Blunt, Amy Adams, and Melissa McCarthy.

If anyone is wondering (are they?), it appears Rita Ora and Taika Waititi are still together as yesterday Demi Lovato posted about them being their “favourite couple.” A (in theory) pop star and famous director would usually be very talked about, especially after the photos with Tessa Thompson. But does their combined thirst (as Lainey points out, he is thirsty too) cancel out the curiosity about them? It’s the gossip law of attraction – it’s hard to get into a couple that wants us to be into them.
